FAQs

  • It’s a fairly chap and easy alternative to customize your figures compared to other methods, like PAD-printing, UV-Printing or Lego’s official Minifig maker, that can be quite expensive.

  • It depends. If you apply it right it is just as durable as regular PAD-printing or UV-Printing. But it requiers that you use a decal softener and 1 or 2 layers of varnish.

  • Not really.

It’s fairly simple when you get the hang of it. But it requiers some finesse’ and patience. But you’ll get the hang of it in just minutes.

  • You need following:

    • Hobby/Eexacto Knife or Sissors

    • 300dpi Inkjet Printer + ink Toners

    • Decal fix/softener

    • Acrylic varnish spray

    • Decal watertransfer paper White/Clear

    • Set of Decals

    • bowl/glass of water

    • Tweezers & brush to easier apply the decals to the intended surface

    • Acrylic white paint for eyes/teeth

    • A needle for easier aplying the acryllic paint

  • Absolutley!

But, It requiers a certain skill lvl and finesse. If your kids can be trusted with a pair of sissors, a knife, or handle the home computer to print the files, then they should be fine. Otherwise i reccomend supervision by an adult to help them out. But I would say it’s suitable as a hobby form the age 10+

  • What’s the best? It depends on who you ask, and their skill lvl. on applying it.

But personally I recommend the INKJET-method. As most people have accsess to a Inkjet writer at home, work, school or library.
    (See the HOW TO section)

Also this is the metod I’ve personally have had the best results using. It requiers a few extra materials though, so beware to check you have everything you’ll need beforehand.
Especially note: water transfer paper, decal softener, & acrylic varnish spray. As they are key to sucsess

  • No, unfortunately Inkjet printers ain’t able to print white, as it uses the white of the paper to balance the color, and this gets lost with clear waterslide decal papers.

This is the bigges drawback currently with decals, unless you can afford a printer that prints white toner.

The solution to this is to mainly use White Decal paper for Torsos/bodies, and Blank paper for Faces, then use a needle with some white acryllic paint to pin down the white dots inthe eyes or fo teeth. I try my best to make the designs with this in mind. but a 100% accurasy is impossible until they make white ink in writers the new standard.
