DECALS Introduction
WHAT ARE DECALS???
In short, Decals are basically stickers.
And all Decals are stickers but not all stickers are Decals. Decals most often needs water in order to get a grip and stick to a surface, unlike many other stickers were the stickiness of them dissapare while applying water to them.
WHY DECALS???
Have you ever wanted a spesific design or a unique face for your lego minifig, but could’t find quite what you were looking for?
And you think it’s too expensive to get sets of custom figs?
Well, that was exactly what was my problem!
And this is were Decals comes in. AS they allow you to apply your own touch to minifigs, moc builds and basically anything you want. But here we focus on LEGO and Bricks.
I wanted to make a homebrew D&D campaign using minifigs for characters as they are so customizable, they are prefect for tabletop roleplaying games likes of D&D.
But I wanted more lore friendly outfits and faces to fit in with my ideas. And as i didn’t have the pieces i neded, I decided to start makeing my own designs.
My designs are mainly loosley inspired and themed around Medival, Fantasy, Gaming & Movies.
Decals are the cheapest way to customize your own figures, and offers you tons of options to combine and match your bricks to get the design of your choice, to fit in with your vision.
Affordability.
LEGO Minifigs are expensive, and custom figs even more expensive! And very few have accsess to a PAD-printer or UV-printer at home, as they are very expensive, and complicated.
So, DECALS!! Decals is the best option for home brewers who don’t mind a bit of DIY. And most people have accsess to either a Laser or Inkjet-printer at home.
Decals can easily be applied to any surface, and works great for LEGO or any other surfaces.
But our focus is LEGO or off-brand brick minifigures from China. As it’s best to apply decals on blank surfaces with no existing prints on them.
If you have older designs you don’t care for much anymore, or don’t fit into what you’re looking for, you can easily remove the existing prints from the official bricks with some nail polish to make blanks and reuse them, bringing new life to them.
But keep in mind it might discolor the bricks slightly by doing so, As the nail polish is quite strong, so be gentile doing so.
Conclution; Decals are absolutley the most easy, accesable and affordable alternative to custom figs and a great way to level up you D&D party/gaming sessions, displays or just add more varity of characters for your kids to play with.
